My life is very much starting to take shape. Here I am newly single, living in city centre Manchester, doing my first real job in marketing and trying to land on my feet in what could potentially be a pretty terrifying situation. Old Megan would have probably freaked out, curled up into a ball demanding to be back in my small town life before university and the realisation that I should really be taking life into my own hands. But recently I have had an attitude overhaul and I am determined to jump in head first and really make the most of the amazing opportunities that are opening up to me.

Saturday marked a rather great milestone in my life. The big 21. Although, living in the UK, this means very little in terms of what I can actually do now it does feel as though this is the beginning of something new for me. I have graduated and I am making it on my own now. The word "adult" is screaming out to me with impressive persistence. There are a million reasons that this should be daunting, but I am so aware that this is such an exciting time for me. No one ever truly becomes an adult because of a birthday. We have to learn, develop, grow and be nurtured to become the person we are meant to be. Things are always going to change. I am embracing change and looking forward to the next year.

Will I further my career? Maybe. Will I go through a break up? Who knows. Will I be somewhere completely unexpected when I turn 22? Most definitely.

And here are some birthday snaps, to lower the tone:

Current Favourites

June has been an interesting month. I've finished university and moved out of the house I have shared with my friends for the last two years. I have been searching for jobs in Manchester to move back to the city with another friend and start a new life for myself. I have made a great deal of changes and taken practical and brave steps to move forward in the right direction. July is going to bring me live music, a holiday, and hopefully a job and a new home. Right now, however, I am enjoying being back with the family and catching up with old friends. With all this change and upheaval it has been a life-saver to have found some reliable and fail-proof favourites for the month. So, here are my favourite beauty products, along with some other current loves too!

Garnier Skin Naturals BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector for Combination/ Oily Skin in Light: With the brief spell of sun we had at the end of May and the continuing muggy weather throughout June this has been my 'go-to' skin base. Foundation is definitely feeling too heavy at the minute and I really like this Garnier BB cream as it doesn't leave my skin looking shiny as many others I have tried have. Loving this and will probably continue to use for the rest of the year as well.

Garnier Anti- Dark Circles Roll-On in Light: I use this under my eyes and on any  pigmentation on my face either over the BB cream base or straight onto my skin if I am having a good skin day (rare!). I like that it is very light and more of a thin texture than other concealers, meaning it doesn't crease at all. This means the coverage isn't great but I  still love it.

Rimmel Soft Kohl Eye Liner Pencil in Pure White: I have mixed up my everyday make-up routine recently and this product makes a regular appearance. I love using this in the inner corner of the eye or in the water line. On a night out this looks lovely as a liner under the eye as an alternative to black, as it makes my eyes look much wider and brighter. Definitely a fan of the texture of this too as it is so soft and blendable.

GOSH Brow Pen in Wheat: I have super pale eyebrows compared to my hair and my face does not look right without lining them, so this is a nifty liquid pen (a bit like a felt tip!) that is really easy to use. The colour pay off is subtle so it definitely does not look like you've just grabbed a Sharpie Marker and coloured your brows in!

Accessorize Black Liquid Liner: Recently my Loreal Liner ran out and as it was the end of term at uni my funds were a little low so I thought I would try this out as it was a fairly cheap alternative. It's really great, has brilliant staying power and is super black and shiny. Everything I need from a liquid liner really!

Barry M Lip Paint in 151: This is a gorgeous pinky, red coral colour that I love to wear when my eye make up is more subtle. The staying power is pretty decent , although it can be a little drying on the lips. I use a balm or gloss over the top and it's a really lovely affordable lipstick.

Dermalogica Clean Start Welcome Matte spf15: I received the Clean Start Mini Kit in this months glossy box and as someone with combination skin I love it! This spf moisturiser was a stand out product for me as it made my face feel nourished, but not greasy as some moisturisers do. It's also got an spf which is an added bonus as this is incredibly important for me as I am rather pale.

MeMeMe Blush Me! in Coral: Most people would say mascara is their make up essential, whereas I would sway towards blush. I adore it. I've had this for ages and it had been sitting unloved in my make-up collection until I decided I fancied a coral day and I have fallen back in love with it. I have to use a very light touch else it can all go wrong and I end up looking like a clown, but other than that it's a great product.

Current Book:
My Dear, I Wanted To Tell You by Louisa Young: I have always loved World War I literature and I spotted this last year and have just got around to reading it now! I am about half way through and really enjoying it.

Current TV Show:
This show has got me hooked. It has hotties, a strong female leed, complicated family drama, murder, plot twists and secrets. I could ask for no more. Really really enjoying my weekly fix of Revenge.

Current Music:
A friend introduced me to Lawson a while ago and since then I have loved listening to these boys. My family and I are going to M Festival in Leeds this summer and I am very much looking forward to seeing them live.

That's it. My current Favourites. Hope you enjoyed having a read!

Touching Down in London Town

Natural History Museum// Dinner in Covent Garden// Union Jacks// Sway Bar//
Practising for Trooping the Colour// Up St. Paul's Cathedral// Thorpe Park

To celebrate the end of exams and university a few friends and I headed to London for the week as a last trip before we all go our separate ways. Although, I am completely shattered now it is well worth it for the fun and jam- packed week we had!

I love London. It's busy and bustling and there's something about the miss- matched architecture with the buildings competing for the prize of 'sticking out like a sore thumb' that makes me mesmerised by our capital.

There was one problem, however. London is definitely not kind to my bird phobia!

Apivita Express Beauty Mask with Pomegranate

I'm not sure whether it has been the crazy weather changes over the last month or stress from exams, but my skin has been in desperate need of some TLC. Remembering the May Glossybox included a couple of face mask sachets I decided I would give them a go.

I received the Apvita Express Beauty Mask with Pomegranate, which claims to be revitalising and radiance boosting for dull skin.

First thing I noticed was the smell. It was lovely and fruity, but not overpowering so that was a definite positive. Also the texture of the mask was interesting. In the past I have only really used peel off masks or clay masks which harden, whereas this was more of a creamy texture which reminded me of really thick moisturiser. It also contained really fine beads, which were  lovely and exfoliating when removing the mask. I did, however, have a bit of trouble washing it off because of how thick it was. It definitely needed a good long rinse!

After using the mask my face felt a bit tight, but after a good moisturise my skin did feel much more nourished and soft.

Overall, I enjoyed using this mask and there is plenty enough for two applications per sachet so there's much more pampering in store for me! I love the fact that these masks are mostly natural (89% apparently, random!) and that they exclude any synthetic ingredients. I am not sure if I'll repurchase, but I know I will enjoy using up my sample.

Happy Birthday Glossybox!

I arrived home yesterday, from a weekend at home driving cool cars, to be greeted by my Glossybox parcel sitting invitingly on my dresser. I always look forward to the end of the month when their offering of 5 high end beauty samples will land in my possession. This time it's Glossybox's birthday, meaning an uber- packed box with a few added extras, including a really cute birthday balloon!

I was quite impressed with the products I received in my box this month as there was a nice variety, although it didn't initially excite me as much as the April Natural box as I adored the Figs and Rouge Balm and the Caudalie serum. Here is what I got this month:

Lolita Lempicka Eau de Parfum and Si Lolita: I thought the cardboard sleeves and tiny baby pink and pastel purple spray bottles were adorable, yet I am undecided about the scents. The original eau de parfum is definitely my favourite as its floral and sweet, prefect for summer.

Berber Oil Hair Treatment: This smells divine, a bit like sweets and after a quick tousle through my hair today I have noticed that it feels softer and more sleek. We'll see! A review to come on this one!

Apivita Express Beauty Masks with Pomegranate: I cannot wait to try these out. They claim to revitalise, restore natural radiance and contain honey, olive oil and vitamins to moisturise and tone the skin. I'm a sucker for a face mask so these are already a winner!

Noble Isle Summer Rising Bath and Shower Gel: It's always handy to have a mini travel sized shower gel so I'm pleased with this. It smells lush and is inspired by the British Isles.. nice to see a bit of patriotic Jubilee fever making its way into the box.

Eldora False Eyeslashes: These are quite extreme in my opinion and as someone who has never ventured towards false eyelashes a bit daunting. I will however be giving these a go and hopefully won't end up with eyelashes on my cheek half way through a night out. I like the fact that they come with a little pot of glue for easy use.

Along with a compact Glossybox mirror which has now taken pride of place in my handbag, this box has definitely included a good variety of lovely products. The oil treatment and false eyelashes are exciting as are both products I've not really gotten into before and I am sure I will find a few gems. I'm excited to try out these products and I'll include some reviews at a later date.

The UK's Fastest Blogger 2012

Yesterday saw me out of the door for a horrendously early start with my mum who blogs at Inside the Wendy House, heading off to Silverstone for a day of Caterham 7 driving with buyagift.

I have never really understood the whole 'driving cars for fun' idea. It has always been to me a necessary skill that gets you from A to B and hurts my ankles! However, upon arriving and being greeted by two Caterham drivers who provided definite eye candy, I knew this day was going to be for me! The day started at 8.30am with a briefing session before we  were let loose behind the wheel to test our drifting ability.

Donning the crash helmets provided we took to the course three at a time. The lovely Caterham crew were so helpful (as well as handsome) giving us advice, feedback and the banter to spur us on.

Seeing my mum's first attempt at driving, helped me feel relaxed and raring to go! After a number of embarrassing attempts to move off and stalling, followed by 'women driver' heckles, I got going. The car accelerated with so much force my head was glued to the headrest. The speedy vehicle nipped round the track so fast that I had finished my first lap before I knew it. A bit juddery at first, I eventually got the hang of it, particularly with the helpful and strange advice to take my right shoe off, earning me the title of 'Megan, One Shoe'!

I absolutely loved it! Slipping and sliding around the course was so much fun and pumped me with masses of adrenaline. In my mind's eye I soared effortlessly around each slalom and carried out donuts with expert precision. In reality, it fell somewhat short of that, but I didn't care because it was just so damn cool. My understanding of 'driving cars for fun' has definitely changed. It was the most fun I have had in ages! By the end of the day I was figuring out what I would need to sell to get my hands on one of those bad boys! Unfortunately, unless I come into a lot of money I won't be drifting around Manchester City Centre any time soon, but it is an experience I would absolutely love to do again! The Caterham 7 was quite frankly awesome, and not bad for the first car I have ever been insured on since passing my test in April!

The day was made better by the lovely company, the hilarious banter, the eye candy and the glorious sunshine. I couldn't have asked for a better day!

For an amazing range of driving experience days, whether you fancy a Ferrari experience or if a tank is more your style, then buyagift.co.uk has a great choice on offer. Days like this would also make for fantastic fathers day gift ideas

I must say, I am definitely a drift driving convert and I am already searching for my next thrill!

Start Over?

With graduation looming and an unknown future ahead of me I have been feeling that getting my own little space on the web back will be a positive step. When I first started this blog I didn't have many expectations, nor did I particularly have a purpose or even a clue what I was writing about. I have had a rethink, a restyle and a new burst of enthusiasm for writing again.

I hope to write about the things I love, beauty products, my style, days out, my new life aspirations and general chit chat. I look forward to my journey on the big world wide web.

I am starting a new life post- uni and I will be living it to the full and looking forward to meeting all of those people who have Not Met Megan yet.
